vFame was my first major project with my dad, aimed at creating a TikTok alternative after it was banned in India. This project was significant as it involved substantial investment and collaboration with my dad, who has a background in engineering. Working together, we aimed to create a platform that would allow users to upload and share short-form videos, similar to TikTok.

The project began with extensive research and planning. We purchased multiple scripts from Codecanyon and hired developers to fine-tune them to our needs. As the only person with coding and programming skills, I was responsible for setting up the server, integrating various components, and ensuring the platform was functional. This involved learning about new technologies such as caching, Redis, AWS, React Native, and Xamarin.

The development process was intense, with long hours and high-pressure situations. We barely slept for days, working non-stop to meet deadlines and ensure the platform was ready for launch. My dad's role as the project manager was demanding, and his approach to task assignment and communication was strict. This environment, while challenging, taught me a lot about working under pressure and managing large-scale projects.

Upon launching the application, we invested in Facebook and Google ads to promote the platform. This period was a steep learning curve, as I learned about social media marketing, paid promotion, and how to hire agencies. We also engaged with content creators, hiring those with substantial followings to promote the platform. This strategy helped us gain initial traction, and we saw a steady increase in users.

However, the project was not without its challenges. The high demands and constant updates led to burnout, and I began to lose interest in the project. Disagreements with my dad about various aspects of the project further strained our working relationship. The stress of balancing my schoolwork with the demands of the project became overwhelming, leading to several arguments and ultimately my decision to leave the project.

Despite the challenges and eventual abandonment of vFame, this project was a significant learning experience. It taught me about the intricacies of project management, the importance of clear communication, and the need for a balanced approach to work and personal life. It also highlighted the importance of having a scalable and efficient technological infrastructure, something I would carry forward into future projects.
