Network Design
This project, from my first year in university, was all about creating a detailed home network diagram. It encompassed everything from outlining the networking devices and their plans to listing home devices, specifying network requirements, setting up a network for a corporate environment, and compiling a comprehensive report. It was a deep dive into the world of routers, cables, and internet plans—a real playground for a tech enthusiast like me.
It was actually my second project at university. This time, I was tasked with designing a network plan for a residential house that was also going to serve a company during the COVID-19 pandemic. With a background of tinkering and experimenting with networks, I was excited to put all that accumulated knowledge to good use. Here's a link to that backstory if you're curious: My Networking Journey.
This project truly felt like a fun venture. I got to apply everything I knew about setting up servers, switches, and routers, how to lay out cables strategically, and how to optimize WiFi usage, including choosing the right frequency. The goal was to create a network that would not only support everyday life but also handle business operations and transactions smoothly.
Working on this project felt like playing with a sophisticated simulation. I had an array of tools at my disposal to draw diagrams and strategically plan where to place routers. I also paid close attention to cost efficiency. Looking back, this project is definitely one of the most engaging and fulfilling ones I've ever tackled.
