In November 2017, I launched MyGameZoo.com, a project driven by my long-standing interest in creating a social media website. The idea was to build a platform where I could form a small community of like-minded individuals who shared my passion for gaming. At the time, I was quite young and was excited about the prospect of connecting with others who had similar interests.

The initial concept was to create a simple platform where users could talk and play games together. I used BuddyPress to build the site, which allowed me to integrate various plugins and themes to enhance the user experience. The result was a basic HTML gaming website that provided users with the ability to create communities, interact with each other, and engage in gaming-related activities.

MyGameZoo was more than just a technical project; it was an opportunity for me to explore my interests and develop my skills in web development. I finished the website and decided to promote it by printing out sheets with the URL and distributing them among my classmates. This grassroots marketing effort paid off, as around 34 students from my class and other classes joined the website. We began playing Minecraft together, sharing links, and enjoying our online community.

However, as time went on, I realized that I lacked a clear direction for the website. Without a well-defined purpose or long-term vision, it became challenging to sustain the project. After about a year, I decided to move on to other endeavors. Despite its short lifespan, MyGameZoo taught me valuable lessons about marketing, community engagement, and the importance of having a clear vision for a project.

Reflecting on MyGameZoo, I appreciate how it helped me understand the complexities of building and maintaining an online community. It also highlighted the importance of adaptability and learning from each project. While MyGameZoo may not have been a long-term success, it was an essential part of my journey, helping me grow both personally and professionally.
